2 Corinthians 8
Study Take Aways:
1. As Paul was able to celebrate the Macedonian church as an example of generous charity, may we too be a church that glorifies God in willfully giving, with liberality, as we are able and are led by the Lord—“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
2. Remembering Jesus’ commitment to wholly sacrificing Himself in complete submission to the Father’s will to bring salvation to sinful humanity, may we follow His example in selflessly committing all that we possess to honor God—“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1
3. Paul explained that the act of giving would serve to demonstrate the love that the Corinthians had for their fellow brethren, reminding us that sincere love is expressed not merely by words but also through action—"My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." 1 John 3:18
