2 Corinthians 5 Take Aways
1. As Paul lived his life looking forward to a resurrection in eternity with assurance, we too should be heavenly minded, knowing that our hope will be fulfilled in eternity as we trust in the completed work of Christ—“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:20-21
2. As Paul explained and Jesus affirmed, a rewards judgment lies ahead for all men, which in turn should motivate us to live with a heart and mind that is set on pleasing the Lord Jesus—Hebrews 12:28 “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear."
3. Since Christ died to bring reconciliation between God and humanity, we are to be zealous ambassadors who live to preach the Gospel of reconciliation to all men—“Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” Titus 2:13
