2 Samuel 15
Calvary Chapel McKinney Pastor James Marini continues a Bible study series through 2 Samuel. This week's verse by verse study is 2 Samuel chapter 15. From Sunday, May 11th, 2025.
Take Aways:
1. Absalom deceitfully projected false humility, but in reality, his intense pride compelled him to promote himself as the hero of Israel while sowing seeds of dissension with selfish motives and we must guard our hearts against similar temptation—“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” Philippians 2:3
2. David was blessed to be surrounded by loyal friends who willingly supported him in the midst of his trial; may we be faithful friends who encourage others in their time of need—“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Prov. 18:24
3. David had a sincere trust in the Lord that allowed him to be able to worship even in the trial believing that God was still in control and worthy of His praise; we too should be able to glorify the Lord with the same confidence regardless of our circumstances—“Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”Habakkuk 3:17-18
