Message Take Aways
1. When the religious leaders attempted to trap Jesus with a question of politics and religion, Jesus wisely answered them to “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” which in turn charges us to strive to honor the Lord both as stewards in this world and as citizens of heaven—“Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” Romans 13:7
2. While the Sadducees attempted to disprove the resurrection, Jesus revealed that they had failed to align their theology with the Scriptures as the Word of God continually declares the promise of a resurrection to come—“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
3. Jesus challenged the Pharisees to consider David's reverence toward his promised physical descendant so they might recognize the submission due to the Son of David as He is also the Son of God and we too must revere Jesus as Messiah and honor Him as God the Son—Thomas rightly professed of Jesus in John 10:28 “My Lord and my God!”
