1. God allowed these kings to suffer this dilemma that they might be humbled and recognize their need to call upon the Lord—“Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6
2. God’s merciful character is demonstrated as He responds to all those who desperately seek Him for salvation—“For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
3. The Lord is faithful to fulfill His promised word by granting deliverance to those who trust in Him—“‘But the word of the LORD endures forever.’ Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” 1 Peter 1:25
