1 John 2:1-14

1. Though the believer aims to walk in holiness, Jesus Christ serves as our Advocate, interceding before God the father on our behalf when we regrettably sin—“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

2. The believer will have confidence that they genuinely know God as they abide in the word of God and exemplify the love of Jesus Christ—“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:10

3. The believer can be assured in every stage of their Christian walk that they truly know God by believing upon the Gospel, growing stronger in the Lord, and continuing in spiritual maturity—“let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22
