
From July 4 to 7, 2025, a catastrophic flood event struck the Texas Hill Country and areas downstream, following an intense and sudden deluge of 5–11 inches of rainfall in a matter of hours. The resulting flooding caused the Guadalupe River to rise rapidly—surging up to 26 feet in just 45 minutes.
The disaster prompted multiple flash flood emergencies across Central Texas, including in Kerrville, Mason, and the Lake Travis area. One of the hardest-hit locations was near Hunt, where the river rose approximately 29 feet, and over 20 children went missing from a summer camp.
In total, the floods claimed at least 90 lives, with 41 more reported missing, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in recent Texas history.
